Equipment IoT · OPC-UA / Modbus / MQTT

Support for 20+ industrial protocols — from Siemens, Mitsubishi and Omron PLCs to CNC, injection machines, die-casting machines, SMT lines, robots and AGVs — all integrated through one gateway. Equipment data streams back in seconds, OEE is calculated automatically, and downtime is auto-classified.

Capabilities

Core Capabilities of Equipment IoT

From protocol adaptation and edge gateways to data processing and OEE calculation

📡 Multi-Protocol Support

20+ protocols including OPC-UA / Modbus TCP/RTU / MQTT / Profinet / S7 / MC / FINS / Ethernet/IP

🌐 Edge Gateway

A lightweight gateway built on EdgeX + IoTDB, with local caching, reconnection buffering and data pre-processing to reduce central-server load

📊 Real-Time Data Streams

Real-time data streams at the equipment / operation / work-order dimension, pushed on demand to business modules via a subscription model

📍 Equipment Status Recognition

Auto-recognition of 5 states — running / standby / fault / changeover / off — with downtime causes broken down

🔁 Bidirectional Communication

Not just "read" equipment status, but also "write" parameters: process parameters, work-order numbers and operation numbers auto-pushed to the PLC

🔌 Plug-and-Play

Drivers for common equipment vendors pre-installed; scan to recognize the equipment model, cutting setup time from 1 week to 1 hour

20+ Industrial Protocols: Even Old Equipment Goes to the Cloud

The factory still runs injection machines from 10 years ago and CNCs from 20 years ago. Their interfaces vary wildly: some only support Modbus RTU serial, others use Siemens proprietary protocols. SBK MES ships 20+ protocol drivers, so old equipment can be integrated without replacing controllers.

  • Standard protocols: OPC-UA / Modbus TCP/RTU / MQTT / HTTP
  • PLC proprietary protocols: Siemens S7, Mitsubishi MC, Omron FINS, Delta DVP
  • Industrial networks: Profinet / EtherCAT / Ethernet/IP / CC-Link
  • Equipment-vendor drivers: Haitian injection, Mazak CNC, ABB robots

Edge Gateway: Collect, Filter and Buffer Locally

10 lines collecting every second produce 860K × 10 = 8.6 million records a day; sending all of it straight to the central server wastes bandwidth and pressures the database. The edge gateway does time-series compression / anomaly filtering / business tagging locally before pushing to the cloud, cutting data volume by 90%.

  • Local IoTDB caches 7 days, buffering data through outages without loss
  • Auto-downsampling of time series: raw at second-level / upload at minute-level
  • Anomaly events pushed first: triggered on state change, not waiting for the cycle
  • Rule engine runs locally: urgent alerts need no round-trip to the center

Automatic OEE Calculation: From Equipment Signals to Efficiency Metrics

OEE = availability × performance × quality. SBK MES auto-recognizes status from equipment signals, computes quality from reporting data, and derives performance from output cycle times, giving a real OEE rather than an estimate.

  • Availability: (planned time − downtime) / planned time
  • Performance: (actual output × standard cycle) / running time
  • Quality: good output / total output
  • Downtime classification: planned stop / fault / changeover / material shortage / waiting for personnel
